LIVE from LONDON ﾅﾏのｲｷﾞﾘｽ英語を味わう! （ｼﾞｬﾊﾟﾝﾀｲﾑｽﾞ）

英語“を”勉強 → 英語“で”勉強､英語“で”仕事
なんて言うわりには､
｢英語を勉強する､英語を学ぶ｣と言っては､
その都度､自分自身を安心させるかのように
英語教材を買い続けてきました｡

そして､教材は買っただけで､
結局､積んであるだけという状況が続くのが僕でした｡
"教材ﾏﾆｱ"と呼ばれても仕方ありません｡｡｡

ですが､今回
ｲｷﾞﾘｽ行きの最後の最後ということで
｢LIVE from LONDON ﾅﾏのｲｷﾞﾘｽ英語を味わう!｣という
ｼﾞｬﾊﾟﾝﾀｲﾑｽﾞから出版されている本を買いました｡

この本は､ﾀｲﾄﾙのように
ﾛﾝﾄﾞﾝでﾗｲﾌﾞ録音した様々な音源が入っています｡

"Voices of the UK"の記事の時にも書きましたが､
いつもはｱﾅｳﾝｻｰがｷﾚｲな発音で録音した音源や
教科書的な教材の音源で勉強していますが､
これらは実際にこれから僕が
ﾛﾝﾄﾞﾝで遭遇するであろう"生きたｲｷﾞﾘｽ英語"とは､
どうやら全然違うらしいんです｡

要は､"生きたｲｷﾞﾘｽ英語"は､
やたらとｽﾋﾟｰﾄﾞが速かったり､
ｲﾝﾄﾈｰｼｮﾝが変だったり､訛ってたり､
変なところで一休みしたりで
かなり聞き取りづらいようなんです｡

聞きやすく､誤りがないように話している
ｱﾅｳﾝｻｰや参考書のCDとは違うんです｡

だから､事前にこの現地録音CDをたっぷり聞いて､
"ｲｷﾞﾘｽ人の生の会話やｱﾅｳﾝｽ"に慣れておこうと考えました｡

本番前に､できるだけ多くの時間を
この本の付属CDのﾘｽﾆﾝｸﾞに費やして､
ｲｷﾞﾘｽ英語慣れしてしまおうという作戦です｡

少ない残り時間の中で､
ｲｷﾞﾘｽ人が実際に使っている英語に耳を慣らすという
この選択は果たして正しいのでしょうか？

失敗は許されません｡｡｡
使える時間は限られています｡

I have often said that I will not only study English but
also work with English. So, just to make myself feel
good, I have bought many English textbooks, thinking
"I will study English. I must study English. "Then,
I have always left them lying around without reading.
If someone called me "a textbook collecter", I wouldn't
be able to deny it.

However, since I'm going to London very soon, I bought
another textbook for the last time, "Live from London
- Let's enjoy living English" published by Japan Times.

As you can see by the title, this book contains various
sound sources which were recorded live in London.
As I wrote another blog entry on the "Voices of the
U.K.", although I have always studied English with
sound sources featuring correct pronunciation recorded
by professional announcers and textbook like materials,
it seems that this is much different than the practical
English which I will face in London from now on. After
all, it would seem that it is difficult to understand
practical English as the British may speak very fast,
their intonation may be strange, they may have a
strong local accent, or they may pause at strange
points in the sentence. It differs from announcers,
who speak English without a mistake for listeners to
understand easily, or attached CDs of textbooks.

Therefore, I'm thinking about trying to get used to
listen to live conversations and announcements of
British people by listening to this CD live recorded on
the spot. By taking time to listen to this CD as much
as possible before going to London, I'd like to get
familiar with listening to British spoken English.

With only a short time left, is this choice which I'm
familiarising myself with British English correct? I
can't afford to fail. I have a limited amount of time
to spend.

Well, well, well!

I think my choice was not a mistake!

I immediately realized how fantastic this CD's live
recording was when I first listened to it.

During my virtual trip to Britain, I heard many sounds
and conversation such as a captain‘s voice through
his microphone on an airplane, random chatters in a
noisy pub, and announcements on the Tube. It tightly
contained various ways of talking by men and women.
The scenes were vivid! I can no longer wait to go to
Britain.

If I listen to this CD as much as possible, I can get
used to the real English conversation. I'd like to
listen to it over and over again.
